Pants for days....
Just when you're ready to give up your cold weather warmies (cozy leggings that got you through low digits), there's a plethora of cool, new pants to fill the gap for spring. Here's what on my radar:
Mar 14, 2023
The European runway shows certainly grasped the hunger for for “normal” women’s clothes that’s out there right now—hence, the new “wearable” moment—and pants are fundamental to that.
This spring, designers also honored the uniform, both literally with surplus style details, such as loops and cargo pockets. but also in the idea of familiar shapes in beautiful everyday clothes as a woman’s uniform. Maybe this was partly a conscious tribute to Ukrainians and their fighting spirit, but perhaps also a reflection of the now unfamiliar war anxiety and awareness that has gripped Europe.
So, it’s fitting that cargo (or utility) pants are a must-have at the moment. You can get them in uniform olive drab, stone or khaki, but also in white, black, colors or as jeans. They’re slouchy and edgy at the same time, with a cool attitude, but supremely comfortable.
.
Wide leg and/or pleated trousers were also integral to the wearable clothes moment. Since when has a well-cut pair of trousers not fit the bill for so many occasions? They’re always on target for working life , but also dressing up, weekend, travel, even formal venues. Women are looking more pulled together in life after jogger pants. Owning really great stylish pieces you can wear, re-wear and rotate throughout your wardrobe, like super-cut trousers, was part of the uniform theme, And doesn’t that just make so much sense?
But this season’s pants weren’t just a utilitarian daily uniform; they were spirited and fun as well. Colorful bottoms and patterned legs appeared in lots of shows, and made the case for injecting some liveliness into your repertoire. Red pants at the office-why not? Lean, multi-color striped legs for for weekends or a less formal job? Absolutely.
Look at my take on technicolored and patterned pants-I think they’re fresh and made to be noticed in a good way. Enjoy.

Observation: Full-Throttle Color
My first post this season just has to be about a bold spring style idea on this AMAZING seventy degree day. Nature is slowly greening, leaving the somber palette of winter behind, but color is definitely not making a soft entrance in the style world. It’s bursting out gloriously, full-blown and almost neon-strong, from designers’ brains onto our backs.
Dior Spring 2022
The reason for the full-throttle impact? Monochromatic, head-to-toe color, which popped up in every collection, capturing the spirit of exuberant spring re-emergence. Whether it’s the endorphin-inspiring saturated colors, the nearly-neons, the deeper-hued pastels, or even the starkness of all black or all white, monochromatic looks took over runways (450-plus) in every major fashion city this spring.

From clothing to hats to scarves to sunglasses, to bras, bags, belts and jewelry, and shoes and hosiery-sticking to one color made a pretty fierce statement.
Monochromatic is a style with an exclamation point. It bombards us with a color and says ”look at me”. Importantly, it shows an in-you-face definitiveness, a confidence that says ““I believe in myself”.
How refreshing to see and feel that positivity in this often stressful time With war, covid and climate to worry about, don’t we all need a little more positive?
It seems that you can’t pile enough of one color into an outfit this spring, so just pick your shade and go for it — all in. Boldness can equal greatness.
Just take a look.
